Jordan, which is quite small compared to other countries packs quite a punch, with wonderfully diverse offerings ranging from ancient Roman ruins, stunning Crusader castles, magnificently preserved mosaics, vibrant cities filled with colorful souks, tantalizing food and breathtaking desert landscapes it's a destination everyone should visit at least once.
For these reasons, we want to share with you our top three favorite places to visit in Jordan to live an unforgettable and luxurious experience.
The "Lost City" of Petra, built around the 1st century BC, is on the bucket list of many travelers. After a series of earthquakes, it was forgotten, lost to the world until it was rediscovered in 1812. To reach it, one must cross the narrow Siq along a path between towering rock walls before beholding the wonder. Petra's defining monument, with its massive pillars gradually appearing, is an impression hard to forget.

The capital, Amman, is fast becoming an artistic center, with the Jaba Amman area especially popular, home to numerous galleries and a fabulous bohemian atmosphere. Throughout the country, traditional Jordanian home cooking is some of the tastiest in the region.
Our itineraries are completely adaptable to the needs and interests of each traveler, however, we thought you wouldn't want to miss out on some activities. Discover with us some suggestions:
DAY 1 Amman: Arrival into Amman, Jordan
Start your Jordan tour in the capital. Amman is one of the oldest cities in the world, a place where modernity meets ancient history. In the west of Amman you will find shopping malls, bars and cafes, while the east is steeped in traditional culture. The city center reveals Roman roots, a ruined citadel and temple ruins. Ancient Arabia can be discovered in the souks and among the jewelry and Bedouin handicrafts. Upon arrival, you will be met by your private driver for transfer to your hotel in the city. Settle in and then enjoy a feast of fresh mezze, an ideal introduction to the country.
Our recommendation is the InterContiental Ammanun hotel, a modern oasis of luxury, resting on one of the city's seven hills, in the heart of the diplomatic quarter. Its 440 recently renovated rooms and suites feature elegant amenities. Relax in the indoor and outdoor pools, enjoy spa treatments or visit one of six restaurants. The location puts you steps from the old town and within walking distance of popular tourist attractions such as the Citadel.

This morning, your Jordan travel guide will take you to explore the culture and history of Amman on foot, with visits to highlights such as the Roman theater and the spectacular Citadel. The city center is located at the bottom of the city's many hills, dominated by the Citadel, an important site due to its long history of occupation by many great civilizations. Most of the buildings still visible are from the Umayyad, Byzantine and Roman eras, including the Temple of Hercules, dating from the 2nd century AD. You will then continue north to Jerash to walk through some incredibly well-preserved Roman ruins, the largest and most interesting Roman site in the country.
The best way to dress in this country is undoubtedly the short-sleeved shirt, it's recommended that they are loose and long; and long pants for the high temperatures do not affect your trip. The key is to have pants of natural fibers and let the skin perspire. Footwear is very important, comfortable shoes that allow you to walk for long hours are absolutely necessary. It wouldn't even hurt to bring two pairs.
DAY 3 Petra: Journey from Amman Stopping at Historical Sites Along the Way
Today you will travel with your private Jordan travel guide to Petra, touring along the way. The trip begins by heading south on the King's Highway. After about 40 minutes you will arrive in Madaba, a small market town that is home to the Church of St. George, known for its Byzantine-era mosaic from the Holy Land. Continuing south, you will reach Montreal in about 2.5 hours. This Crusader castle was built in the early 12th century, perched on the side of a rocky mountain surrounded by a remote and wild landscape. From here, Petra is just over 35 minutes by car.
Our recommended hotel is Hyatt Zaman Hotel & Resort is the ideal hotel for visitors wishing to explore Petra while offering modern recreational facilities and entertainment in an authentic late 19th century Jordanian village. The hotel's facilities are built around themes and this allows the guest to experience the ancient village way of life.
Another hotel suggestion could be Mövenpick Resort Petra is located directly at the entrance to the historic Jordanian city of Petra. This 5-star resort with an oriental flair features an exciting combination of natural stone, handcrafted wood with Middle Eastern fabrics and textures.

DAY 4 Petra: Private Guided Petra Tour
Begin the day by touring the fascinating site of Petra with a local guide. The two-hour tour includes an expert insight into the history of this ancient city from the 1st century B.C. You'll make your way along the Siq, crossing the main thoroughfare, and stop to admire the tombs and temples. Your guided exploration is likely to end at the Qasr al Bint temple, near the Temple of the Winged Lions and the Great Temple. From here you climb the 800 steps to the legendary Monastery, carved into the rock in the 3rd century BC. Enjoy the rest of the day to explore at your own pace.
DAY 5 Wadi Rum: Private Bedouin-Guided Jeep Tour
Leaving Petra, your private Jordan travel guide will take you to Wadi Rum, one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world, with rugged mountains, red sands and incredible rock formations. It was also famous for being the base for soldiers, including Lawrence of Arabia (T.E. Lawrence), during the Arab revolt. Upon arrival, a local Bedouin will take you on a jeep tour through this extraordinary desert to visit interesting sites including canyons with ancient Nabataean inscriptions and hidden springs. Sunsets are especially impressive here and you can witness one of them before heading to a local camp and enjoying one of the best views of the stars on earth.
Al Sultana Luxury Camp is our recommendation to enjoy the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises. It is one of the best locations where you can see both the white and red desserts without the need to travel long distances. Camel rides and jeep tours can be arranged. Or put on your hiking shoes and explore Wadi Rum by foot.

DAY 6 Dead Sea: Visit Bethany Beyond the Jordan
The next stop on your itinerary is the Dead Sea, about three to four hours' drive from Wadi Rum. Before arriving at your hotel, you will visit the very place where Jesus is believed to have been baptized by John the Baptist: Bethany, beyond the Jordan. This archaeological site, a World Heritage Site, is located on the eastern bank of the Jordan River. Then continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest place on Earth, at 1,312 meters below sea level.
DAY 7 Dead Sea: Relax and Enjoy
The Dead Sea contains 10 times more salinity than seawater, which makes humans float strangely like leaves. Floating in the salty waters is an unusual, but relaxing and possibly healing experience due to its therapeutic sea minerals. The mineral-rich mud on the beach is said to be highly cleansing to reduce symptoms of respiratory, skin and even nervous system ailments. Take the day to enjoy it, floating and possibly indulging in a local spa treatment using these natural healing ingredients.
Our recommended Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea three palm-fringed pools will take you from the Arabesque-style hotel to the therapeutic waters of the Dead Sea. Relax on the balcony or terrace of your air-conditioned room and treat yourself to Dead Sea salt treatments at our spa.
